We all experience conflict in our daily lives, from small inconvenient conflicts to conflicts that alter the path of our lives. Even though conflict is one of the most natural occurrences in the human experience, most of us don't have effective strategies and frameworks for approaching conflict when it happens. This book provides basic strategies and frameworks for folks that want to learn to turn conflict into an opportunity in their lives that leads to stronger relationships. Produced in partnership with Boise State University’s eCampus Center through the Open Book Summer Grant Program 2020.

Pathways Project co-directors Kelly Arispe and Amber Hoye hosted a showcase of the Pathways Project on September 24th for the Boise State community and others interested in learning more about the work being done at Boise State.

The Pathways Project hosts a collection of over 450 classroom activities across 10 different languages, all collaboratively created by Idaho world language students and teachers. In this workshop, we’ll explore how we’ve used OER Commons to host these ancillary materials, our partnership with world language students and teachers, and share some lessons we’ve learned along the way! Participants will gain an understanding of the features of OER Commons, ideas for co-creating with students, and an understanding of resources available to K-16 language instructors.

This is an edition of Shakespeare's play Hamlet optimized for Pressbooks. It uses heading formats so that users can navigate to different scenes of the play. It can be cloned to other Pressbook environments and can allow for instructors to include student responses to the text.

The Spanish O.R. Index is a Google site of Internet resources that can be used in the Spanish-language classroom. Indexed resources contain authentic or authentic-like materials and are marked with keywords for thematic unit or content. By referring to the Google site, teachers can use the time looking for usable resources as time to create and scaffold.

This semester [Fall 2019], Kaden used his background in linguistics and knowledge of phonetics and phonology to make a student-accessible guide to pronunciation in Spanish. The guide explains differences between vowel and consonant pronunciation in English and Spanish, so students are able to train both their ears and their tongues!"

After completing my Arabic minor, I wanted to continue my studies but encountered few resources to do so independently. Given my six years of Arabic experience, I decided to write a free, online, Intermediate Arabic textbook through my Open Educational Resources internship. I chose to write a textbook because I saw the value in Arabic materials from the perspective of a student, as I can relate to the struggles of learning Arabic. As so, I structured my project to act as a digital pocket guide for students to use when studying or traveling abroad. The textbook currently contains five units broken down into sections of vocabulary, grammar, cultural dialogues written by Arab students on campus, study abroad advice, and practice activities.

This project will dive into a three-part survival guide for studying abroad in Bilbao, Spain. The guide will cover pre-study abroad items, how to enhance your experience while you are abroad, and post-study abroad items. I think this will bring a different perspective to students and will genuinely benefit them to have this awesome information.

In this one hour webinar, you’ll watch two demonstrations (one for Higher Ed and one for K-12) where we locate Pathways interpersonal speaking activities and customize them in real-time “live”. We’ll revise, remix, and redistribute the activity, modeling why you’d make changes and showcasing how. We’ll re-visit our newly published authentic materials and digital humanities booklet to demonstrate how easy it is to find resources to align to the activity to enhance it for interpretive communication and intercultural competence learning outcomes. We’ll show you how easy it is to make these changes within OER Commons and to license your work for other teachers to use.
