Two students turn cabbage juice from red to blue and back to red in this short 1m 30s video clip from Zoom Science. They add baking soda (a base) to turn the red cabbage juice blue and then add vinegar (an acid) to create a chemical reaction that bubbles and turns the color back to red.
This could be used to introduce acids and bases to students before they conduct their own investigations. A printable background essay and discussion questions are provided.
