A free, Open Educational Resource, Blueprint for Success in College and Career is a students' guide for classroom and career success. This text, designed to show how to be successful in college and in career preparation focuses on study skills, time management, career exploration, health, and financial literacy.

The Blueprint for Success series comprises three books for the College Success and FYE (First-Year Experience) genre. The central text, Blueprint for Success in College and Career, is designed to show how to be successful in college and in career preparation. In addition, targeted sections on Study Skills and Time Management, and Career and Decision Making are available separately as Blueprint for Success in College: Indispensable Study Skills (https://press.rebus.community/blueprint1/) and Time Management Strategies, and Blueprint for Success in Career Decision Making (https://press.rebus.community/blueprint3/).

This course has many features designed to help you learn chemistry. It is organized into units, each of which ends with an exam. Within each unit there is a weekly schedule. Within each week there are whole-class meetings where lecture and group work will be done, a discussion section for group work, and a laboratory session. Before each whole-class meeting there is a pre-class activity that will make sure you have the background needed for the class session. There are post-exam activities that will ask you to reflect on your study habits and what you have learned. There will be activities during each class period, and there is homework each week. Laboratory work enables you to learn techniques and apply what you have learned in class. All course information is available in a course management system called Canvas. An online system called Piazza (link provided in Canvas) allows you to post questions anytime and get responses quickly. Your course instructors will have office hours during which difficult materials can be discussed and explained: make use of them!

This course examines the developing child in a societal context and focuses on the interrelationships of family, school, and community as agents of socialization from historical, socio-cultural, and contemporary perspectives. The course highlights the process of socialization and identity development, demonstrating the importance of respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and empower families in a culturally diverse society.

Early Childhood Education / ECE-102 Child, Family and Community

Examines the developing child in a societal context focusing on the interrelationship of family, school, and community and emphasizing historical and socio cultural factors. The processes of socialization and identity development will be highlighted, showing the importance of respectful, reciprocal relationships that support and empower families.

Children, Families, Schools, and Communities is introductory text in the field of Child and Family Studies. It provides a lens for understanding the evolving definition of “family” through socially constructed and ecological theory frameworks. It promotes strategies for culturally sustaining and deeply collaborative relationships between families, schools, and communities through the use of home-grown advocacy strategies based on community-driven data. Children, Families, Schools, and Communities is an adapted OER text from Rebecca Laff’s and Wendy Ruiz’s Child, Family, and Community.

This interactive, scaffolded activity allows students to build an atom within the framework of a newer orbital model. It opens with an explanation of why the Bohr model is incorrect and provides an analogy for understanding orbitals that is simple enough for grades 8-9. As the activity progresses, students build atoms and ions by adding or removing protons, electrons, and neutrons. As changes are made, the model displays the atomic number, net charge, and isotope symbol. Try the "Add an Electron" page to build electrons around a boron nucleus and see how electrons align from lower-to-higher energy. This item is part of the Concord Consortium, a nonprofit research and development organization dedicated to transforming education through technology. The Concord Consortium develops deeply digital learning innovations for science, mathematics, and engineering. The models are all freely accessible. The purpose of this book is to acquaint the reader with what curriculum is, how it is defined, what is involved in the process of its development, the different types and models of curriculum, as well as innovations to make teaching and learning more engaging and meaningful. This will be balanced by the impact of assessment and adapting curriculum in times of challenges with an eye towards the work of great schools and master teachers during times of change.
The inclusion of Open Educational Resources (OER) provide a new and exciting dimension to the text through the inclusion of educational resources from experts who have graciously consented to share their work with others at no cost, thereby giving all readers the opportunity of learning about curriculum without the burden of cost as a barrier that shuts out capable and enthusiastic learners from gaining the knowledge and skills necessary in becoming thoughtful consumers and practitioners of curriculum.
Each chapter has a short introduction followed by essential questions that are designed to pique the reader’s interest, then by content that will reveal answers to the questions and enhance the reader’s curriculum knowledge base through interactive learning activities (ILA).

This dynamic and equity-focused Open Educational Resource serves as a multifaceted textbook for Foundations of Education courses in post secondary institutions.

The purpose of this study was to examine the comparative influence of college administrator credential programs, on-the-job experiences, and the ISLLC Standards in the development of leadership expertise among urban public school principals. An exploratory, ex-post-facto research design used both quantitative and qualitative approaches. A survey of 101 randomly selected urban school principals from 25 of America’s largest metropolitan school districts was given, followed by telephone interviews with a subset of 20 randomly selected survey participants. Data were analyzed through the use of inferential and descriptive statistics and descriptive narratives. On-the-job experiences were significantly more important in developing leadership expertise than college credential programs on each of 41 ISLLC-based learning tasks. However, college credential programs are also important sources of leadership development. Several significant differences were found between comparative ratings of learning tasks by subgroups (experience, gender, school type). Respondents ranked 78% of the ISLLC Standards as very important to the field of school leadership. Interview subjects expressed concern about lack of preparation in budgeting, data analysis, teacher evaluation, and change management.

This toolkit contains a set of resources used to introduce Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into Teacher Education. The utility of these resources span from creating an ICT in Education strategy, collecting education data, considering approaches to advocacy, designing curriculum to materials development and provides a set of open materials that could be used for training new or in service teachers.

This training manual is aimed to enable family educators to generate gender responsiveness in parents and other major caregivers, especially those with young children aged 0-8. Divided in 6 modules, includes exercises designed to encourage reflection and discussion on gender issues.

This book is a compilation of created and remixed resources for use in various courses supporting the care and development of infants and toddlers. This textbook is intended to be pulled apart, remixed, reshared, and redistributed in the form that best meets your individual needs. For this reason, this resource has unique characteristics not typical of other textbooks.
• Each chapter or section is stand-alone. No chapter references another or makes statements such as “as you previously read.” This intentional design choice allows you to remix every section without concern about referencing a section you did not copy over.
• The chapters were created around topics we felt should be stand-alone and therefore had different length requirements. For this reason, you will notice a chapter might be 20 pages or 2.
• Chapters contain multiple sections to remix easily and create new and unique chapters for your individual needs.
• You might find repeat information within sections. Since each section is intended as a stand-alone section, information might be repeated within sections to give context to the subject matter. The beauty of OER is you have permission to delete and add as needed.
• We’ve made every effort to keep the original source with the content, as you remix be aware of the license types on each resource.
To best use a small window of time to complete this resource, we decided to forgo many of the extra “bells and whistles” one might find in traditional textbooks, including call-out boxes with additional resources, robust vignettes, and reflection questions. While we feel this resource contains much of the content needed for multiple infant and toddler courses, we eagerly await each improvement upon this resource the infant and toddler educator community bring forth.
